Carlos Vilela is Of Counsel with the Firm. Prior to joining the Firm, Carlos served Cobb County as a Hearing Officer for the Probate Court of Cobb County. Before his service with the Probate Court, he served as an Assistant County Counsel in the Fulton County Attorney’s Office, where his practice included court administration, risk management, and property management matters.
Earlier in his career, Carlos served as Senior Staff Attorney to the Honorable Jane P. Manning in the State Court of Cobb County. He began his legal career with a Cobb County firm specializing in estate planning and small-business dispute resolution. Immediately following law school, he worked with Catholic Charities of Atlanta in its Immigration Legal Services Department.
Carlos has extensive experience in matters involving the operation of Georgia’s courts, the Georgia Civil Practice Act, the Georgia Probate Code, complex discovery disputes, and election and campaign finance law.
He currently serves as Chair of the State Bar of Georgia’s Professionalism Committee and is a member of both the State Bar of Georgia and the Cobb County Bar Association.
Carlos earned his law degree from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School and his undergraduate degree from Georgia State University. Born in Venezuela, he is fluent in Spanish and has firsthand experience navigating the U.S. immigration process, becoming a naturalized citizen in 2003.
